Three quick whisky cocktails, two of them simple and traditional, the third, a little more unusual, for you to make and enjoy.
Whisky Mac
What you need:
- 2 parts Scotch whisky
- 1 part Green Ginger Wine
Place ingredients in a traditional whisky tumbler, and mix by holding the base of the glass and shaking gently.
Whisky Sour
What you need:
- 2 measures Scotch whisky
- Juice half a lemon
- ½ teaspoon sugar
- A few ice cubes
If you have a cocktail shaker, place all the ingredients in it, cover, and shake well to mix. Alternatively place in a jug and stir well. Pour into a whisky tumbler and finish off with a squirt of soda water if required.
Rattlesnake
There are a number of different versions of Rattlesnake; we’ve chosen this one, which, like all of them, has a powerful bite!
What you need:
- 2 measures Canadian whisky
- 1 egg white
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- ½ teaspoon icing sugar
- 3 dashes Pernod
- Ice
Place all the ingredients in a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously (or into a jug and stir). Strain through a fine sieve into a cocktail glass.
For whisky cocktails, use blended Scotch whisky not single malts.
As in all cocktails, experiment and sample until you get the mix just to your liking.
