The Brandy Alexander is a creamy brandy based cocktail, extremely popular during the early 20th century and is ideal to serve as an after dinner cocktail.
The Recipe

- 2 measure brandy
- 1 measure crème de cacao (dark and white)
- 1 measure double cream
- Garnish: grated nutmeg
Add all the ingredients plus ice into a cocktail shaker, shake well and strain into a chilled martini glass. Finish by grating a little nutmeg on top.
Brandy Alexander Ice Cream
- 4/5 egg yolks
- A cup of sugar
- 3 tablespoons plain flour
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
- 5 tablespoons Kahlua
- 4 tablespoons brandy
Whisk the sugar, flour and egg yolks together until it thickens, place to one side. Then add the milk and cream in a saucepan and heat, however, do not boil, instead stir continually. Whisk the milk mixture into egg mixture and return mixture to saucepan. Heat whilst stirring constantly, stir until mixture coats the back of a metal spoon. Stir in the rest of the ingredients. Pour into a glass bowl, cover and chill in the freezer overnight or until you are happy with the firmness
